Promoting Independence and Building Confidence
At Shibley there is a smooth transition from Junior to Senior Camp. Children ages 7-13 are encouraged to explore different activities and select daily options to suit their interests. Our goal is to help build confidence by teaching them new skills and strengthening their current abilities.
Learning to swim is an important aspect of camp. Your child will have Red Cross Swim Instruction every day in our heated pools. Lifeguards and Swim Instructors are Red-Cross Certified and are CPR Trained. Each camper progresses through different levels of the Red Cross Swim Instruction program.
Campers also have daily recreational swim where they enjoy water activities and our new pools slides - "The Helix" and "The Turbo-Twister!"
Daily Options for Senior Campers
Senior Campers have the flexibility to create their own daily schedule. They may select from a variety of daily options inclunding Sports, Performance Arts, Air Bungee, Go Karts, Rocketry and our Rock Climbing Tower.
Shibley offers a wide variety of Sports Activities for Senior boys and girls. Our new "Field of Dreams" and "Fenway Park" baseball fields are designed for softball games and tournaments while our "professional" Batting Cages provide a fun way for campers to hone their batting skills.
We also offer Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Lacrosse. Tennis, Volleyball, Pickleball, Beach Volleyball and Gaga Ball.
Senior Campers who love performing have plenty of opportunity with our Creative Arts Program. Those who select Theatre as an option have daily rehearsals for our Broadway Musical productions. Every year brings new offerings with shows like "Annie," "Grease," "Sound of Music", "Mary Poppins", "Guys and Dolls," and "The Wizard of Oz."
Solid Gold Dance shows are another popular option for our Senior Girls. They rehearse all summer for this lively "rock show" which is a huge hit with the entire camp.
All Theatre and Dance performances are staged at our shade-covered, outdoor amphitheater where the entire camp and parents are invited to attend.
Additional Senior Camper options in Creative Movement include Zumba and Cheerleading.
Adventure Skills Options
Some of the most popular options for Senior Campers include our Adventure Park, Air Bungee, Rock Climbing Tower and "NASCAR" Go Kart Track.
Here campers are excited to challenge themselves and in activities that test their individual skills.
Hands-On Activity Options
Boys and girls who like to work with their hands have many options in Senior Camp. They can choose to participate in Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, Nature Crafts and Rocketry. We also have our "Bakers and Shakers" cooking classes and Sand Sculpture Day where campers learn from professional artists.
Our oldest campers, the Senior III Boys and Girls, have trips off-campus to local Long Island activities. This year our Senior III boys and girls will have a day at Adventureland!
Our schedule is packed with exciting All-Camp events from Carnival and Waterworld Day to our Shibley Olympics. Additionally, Senior Campers participate in Triathlon Week, our famous "Goose Cup" Hockey Championship, the "Jeannie Cup" Newcomb Tournament, the Shibley Scavenger Hunt, Senior Camp Sing and tournaments in every sport from Softball to Tennis to Soccer.
