Staff Positions

General Counselors:  Shibley counselors spend the day with their group of campers, supervising them as well as supporting them in activities. You work with and directly report to your Group Leader.

Activity Specialists: Activity Specialists at Shibley focus on a specific area at camp helping campers master a specific skill set related to that activity, such as Arts & Crafts, Sports, Adventure Park/Ropes Course, Climibing Wall, Air Bungee, etc.

Group Leaders:  Shibley Group Leaders are teachers and trained professionals who are responsible for campers within a given age group, as well as the counselors assigned to that group. Group Leaders plan and coordinate all group activities. Group Leaders communicate directly with camper families and report to camp directors.

Nursing Staff:  Shibley hires RNs, LPNs, and nursing students. The nursing staff is responsible for treating minor injuries, dispensing medication, insuring the health and safety of our campers and staff, maintaining proper medical records, and communicating with parents. It is important that you enjoy working with children and are friendly and personable.

Office Staff:  Shibley Office Staff work in our summer office answering phone calls, compiling attendance records, coordinating camper transportation, using computers for communications and record-keeping, delivering parental communications to Group Leaders and assisting in the overall day to day camp operations.

Kitchen & Dining Room Staff:  Shibley Kitchen and Dining Room Staff work in the kitchen preparing and serving lunch, as well as participating in post-meal clean up. These hospitality responsibilities will have you working directly under the Kitchen Supervisor and Dining Room Director.

Aquatics Staff:  Shibley Aquatics Staff must have Lifeguard Training, Nassau County Lifeguard Certification, and CPR certification. Lifeguards work directly with campers under the supervision of the Swim Head at one of our 4 heated pools. Each lifeguard is assigned a small group of campers to provide Red Cross Swim Instruction. Lifeguards also maintain current records of each camper's swim progress as well as supervise free swim and pool activities.

Maintenance Staff:  Shibley maintenance staff is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our beautiful camp grounds and facilities both during our summer season as well as during the off season throughout the year.
